R & R anyone?

What is the Purpose of Prayer?  After contemplating this question for some time, I’ve concluded that the purpose of prayer is to bring us REST.

R:  Reminds us of God’s Authority

  • He’s Sovereign; He has the right to do whatever He wants
  • We must demonstrate humility and submit to His will

E:  Encourages us in God’s Ability

  • He’s all powerful; He has no equal
  • He sees and knows all things

S:  Secures us in God’s Acceptance

  • He’s faithful; His love is unconditional
  • Nothing shall separate us from the love of God

T:  Trust in God’s Assurance

  • His Word will never return unto Him ineffective
  • He can’t lie
