PRACTICE
Today, I want to talk about practice, not for a game, but for a reason greater than that, GOD!
In fact, the BIG IDEA for today is Practice the Presence of GOD. Once again, Practice the Presence of God. Our Scripture reference for this devotion comes from Exodus 33:14-15 (NIV) and it reads as follows…
14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.
As we consider Moses’ statement, I wonder how many professed Christians today would voluntarily choose to live in a wilderness desert experience with God, and opt out on living in the prosperity of the Promise Land without God’s presence?
I ponder on this question because too often the body of Christ at large displays a propensity to associate the tangible things of prosperity as being representative of the presence of God in one’s life.
Yet here we see Moses, who preferred to remain in a wilderness experience with God, then go anywhere without HIM!
Moses words reminded me of what the psalmist penned in Psalm 84:10
“Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
Yes saints, that’s the proper perspective when it comes to the presence of God! When we value and chase after the heart of God, we demonstrate WORSHIP, thus practicing the presence of God. However, this recognition of HIM does not occur by happenstance, you must be intentional about keeping first things first, His will and His work is what we must strive to do!
When you practice the presence of God, you have a sense of REST. Again, verse fourteen says, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you REST.” True rest is only found in His presence and accompanies us as we GO about performing kingdom WORK. Yes, brothers and sisters, you can have REST in WORK, HIS WORK!
Practicing the presence of God should be viewed as a continuous act one performs as he or she seeks to fulfill that which is good, and acceptable and perfect will of God. Go forth in obedience, Practice the Presence of God!
