Warning: Thin Ice

on
December 22, 2019

There are times in life when we overstep or overlook the warning signs.  This occurs for many reasons, such as inattentiveness (e.g. too busy or distracted), familiarity (e.g. I’ve done it so many times), unbelief (e.g. It won’t happen to me), or perhaps you’re simply a risk-taker.  Whatever the case the result is inevitably the same, “you’ve fallen and can’t get up.” Likewise, in your real-life examples of falling, so too is there another example of failure, that being spiritually.  However, unlike our practical situations that led to trouble, this falling can’t be corrected by any natural means.  No, my friend, you can’t use your intelligence, street smarts, power, position, privilege, or any other man-made escape to correct this falling.  You’ve by-passed the warning signs once too many, and now you’ve fallen through the ice.  The only question that remains is: “will you call on the only helper who’s ready and able to save you… Jesus Christ, or will you succumb to the frigid sea of sin that will certainly drown you?”

When we were utterly helpless, with no way of escape, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners who had no use for him.” – Romans 5:6 (TLB)
