Brothers, I must apologize! For an exceptionally long time I’ve been challenging you to bold for Christ, to be an AMBASSADOR FOR CHRIST, to be a watchman on the wall for GOD. However, I have seen the light as to why some of you may have remained in the closet even though everyone else has come out. I believe those brothers who have remained in the closet as it pertains to their witness of Christ have grabbed hold of this Scripture and have incorrectly applied it to all aspects of their life.
Matthew 6:5-6 (KJV) states,
“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
Brothers, God is only asking for us to stay in the closet as it pertains to prayer in this text. In essence, the principle of discretion in praying and giving is required. We seek to please God. Thus, our prayers and giving doesn’t need to be a performance for the applause of man but rather for the approval of God alone who looks on the heart and sees our true motives.
Hence brothers, you can only be an undercover agent for God as it pertains to prayer in these verses and in your giving as found in other verses—terms and conditions of the text do apply. God desires for you to be a vocal AMBASSADOR as if God Himself is making His appeal through you!
