Have you ever been dissatisfied with someone or something? Studies have shown that a dissatisfied person will generally express their disappointment with 8-20 people, whereas a satisfied person will tell 2-6 people. Apparently, most Christians are neither, approximately 95% of Christians haven’t told anyone about Jesus Christ. What about you? Why is sharing your faith an uncomfortable thing to do? Apostle Peter gives this guidance:
“You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.” – 1 Peter 3:15-16a (NLT)
In other words, he’s instructing us to be REAL. If you haven’t accepted Jesus as Lord of your life with the visible evidence of a change, how could anyone ever be convinced by you? You can’t give what you do not have! Next, Apostle Peter wants us to be READY. Ready to share the words of God from the Scriptures that brings life, and life more abundantly, while releasing one from eternal death. Lastly, Apostle Peter urges us to be RESPECTFUL. The right words given the wrong way will undoubtedly result in rejection, but the right words seasoned with love will result in God being glorified.
