All In The Family
Several decades ago, there was a popular sitcom called “All in the Family.” The show highlighted the everyday life of an all-white family, it gave particular focus to the lifestyle and beliefs of the middle-aged conservative-minded husband. He oftentimes had difficulty embracing people who were not of his same kind. However, that is not so in the family of God.
“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb” – Revelation 7:9-10 (NIV).
Looking at our current society (local, national, and world-wide), one would find it challenging to believe that God wanted “all in the family,” yet from the beginning it was so. “From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us” – Acts 17:26-27 (NIV).
So, if you become discouraged by what you hear and see concerning human relations, just remember that it will not always be this way, JESUS has better for you!
